Custom Split Flap Display for Wine Shop in Hong Kong

In 2019, TS Display created a custom Split Flap Display for The Fine Wine Experience, a premium wine shop in Hong Kong.

The display was built with a 5 row × 30 column layout using 20 cm × 15 cm Split Flap modules. Installed above the wine display area, the mechanical flip board was used for opening promotion, event messages, and in-store customer engagement.

For wine shops and premium retail spaces, a Split Flap Display is more than a message board. Its mechanical movement, flipping sound, and retro visual rhythm help create a refined atmosphere that fits the feeling of fine wine, boutique shopping, and slow customer experience.

Compared with a normal LED screen, the black flap surface, white characters, and physical flipping motion create a warmer and more memorable visual experience. This makes the display especially suitable for wine shops, restaurants, bars, hotels, museums, and other commercial spaces that value atmosphere and brand identity.

After around seven years of use, the Split Flap Display is still running normally, showing the reliability of TS Display’s mechanical design, software control, and long-term commercial project quality.

Visitors to Hong Kong can still see this Split Flap Display in use at The Fine Wine Experience, where the mechanical flip board continues to be part of the store’s retail atmosphere.

The finished Split Flap Display became a distinctive visual feature inside The Fine Wine Experience wine shop in Hong Kong. With its black flap surface, white characters, mechanical flipping motion, and recognizable sound, the display matched the refined wine retail environment.

Instead of using a normal LED screen, the wine shop chose a mechanical display that feels warmer, more physical, and more memorable. It was used for welcome messages, event promotion, customer engagement, and long-term in-store branding.
