A Classic Train Departure Board Reimagined for a Railway Museum
In October 2025, a custom TS Display split flap display was installed at HZERO Miniature Train Museum in Florence, Italy.
The display consists of 98 split flap modules arranged in a 7 × 14 layout. Each module measures 20 × 15 cm, creating an active display area of approximately 140 × 210 cm.
Installed at the entrance of a museum dedicated to trains and railway culture, the display naturally recalls the classic train departure boards once widely used in railway stations.

A Natural Fit for HZERO
At the heart of HZERO is a 280-square-meter H0-scale model railway, with more than 70 miniature trains running through detailed railway landscapes. The museum is built around the history, atmosphere and fascination of railway travel.
Before digital screens became common, mechanical split flap boards were an iconic part of railway stations, displaying departures, arrivals and destinations.
At HZERO, the mechanical movement and distinctive sound of the split flap display bring that classic railway departure board character into a modern museum environment.
Surrounded by miniature trains and railway scenery, the display feels naturally connected to the space rather than simply being another digital information screen.
Featured by the City of Florence
The City of Florence’s PortaleGiovani specifically highlighted the split flap board installed at the entrance of HZERO, describing it as a board “just like those in old railway stations” and noting the vintage character it brings to the museum.
This connection is exactly what makes the installation so appropriate for HZERO — a modern split flap display inspired by one of the most recognizable mechanical elements of traditional railway stations.

Factory Testing Before Shipment
Before shipment to Italy, the complete 7 × 14 split flap display was assembled and tested at our factory to verify its mechanical movement, character alignment and overall operation.
The factory test also captures the distinctive movement and sound of the display before its installation at HZERO.
